Consultancy
This is my bread and butter. I really enjoy providing support to my clients on every day and specific consumer related topics.
Complaint assistance
I provide support on complaints that I believe are defendable. I do not defend the indefensible.
Consumer Duty
I act as a critical friend for businesses, challenging their perception of the duty and what is actually required.
How I work
I can and do find a way of working with my clients across a range of topics that usually involves interaction with their customers.
Here are some examples.
Critical friend – I sit on an investment committee where my role is to act as the consumer champion. This type of work is on a retained basis.
Advocate- by supporting firms with their complaints, I can ensure any argument is made in a non-emotive way, constructing arguments around the issues with knowledge of FOS processes and procedures.
Presenting – I present on a range of topics around client facing documentation and Consumer Duty, either in person or via video conferencing.
Coaching –A firm uses me on a retained basis to help it’s paraplanners not only draft reports but to help them gain confidence in dealing with their more “demanding” clients.
Collaborating – I like working with other people. This has included a PI insurer and compliance consultants. Having a different perspective helps them and me see things in a different way.

Process
My process
I am very flexible in the way I work. All my clients have come to me through personal recommendation.
Client Contact
Typically, a client will contact me, and we will have an initial discussion.
Proposal
If we are a good fit, I will then propose a way of working together with my proposals, either via discussion or in writing.
Delivery
Whilst delivering what has been agreed I keep my clients updated and then present the result.
